AMEYA – AMAZE project for Mentoring and Empowerment of Young Adults [Age 16+]

The vision of this project is to tap into the boundless potential of young adults in the spectrum and help them actualize their aspirations.

To find individualized Lifespan solutions for each student and help the families actualize these solutions
To provide skill based learning opportunity in all functional areas
To transition the student towards independence or functioning with minimum support by scaffolding the learning processes.
To find employment opportunities for students wherever possible – Open /Sheltered /Self Employment
To develop a good working Lifespan solution oriented model for persons on the spectrum and their families that can be easily replicated.

Whole day program [10am – 5pm ][Monday – Friday ]
1-1 sessions and group sessions are included
Process based Functional Curriculum
Focus on Engagement , Education and Employment skills
Detailed Intake assessment and constant review and of Individual learning needs and progress
Program, Teaching strategies and adaptations customized to each individual student
Positive behavioral supports in place like Sensory diets and breaks , Visual supports and Communication Aids
No enrollment criteria…we assess and take the student to the next level from wherever they are

Computer based skills like Data Entry and Content creation using Ms Office – Word , Excel , Power Point and Paint and Internet skills Google , Email , Social media
Office Skills Printing , Xerox , Lamination ,Cutting ,Filing
Food preparation including Meal planning ,Shopping Cooking and Baking
Life skill training including Activities of Daily living , Housekeeping ,Laundry and Gardening
Sports and Fitness training and Adventure activities and Treks
Soft skill and Social skills training using Drama and Video modeling
Exposure Music , Movement , Art based activities to discover abilities and interests which may lead to vocation or hobby

One person trained in our pilot batch [2013] has been placed in Open Employment with a leading Software Company
Number of Learning materials such as PECs files , Schedule Boards , Calendar tools , Flash cards have been made by our students and supplied to individual parents and professionals
A major Preschool chain is placing their order for Laminated Learning Materials with our students
We are getting small orders from parents and persons in the neighborhood for Snacks made by our students
One of our student’s designs on MS Paint was chosen as a logo for the Velvi ART for Autism festival 2013.
